This song started off with me just noodling around on guitar; I came across some chords that I thought sounded kind of dark and mischievous. I was re-watching Breaking Bad at the time, so I was really into the idea of making a song that could potentially fit one of the montages where Walt and Jesse are cooking. As time went on, though, the vibe of the song kind of shifted more into reggae territory, and the bridge is Arctic Monkeys inspired, all the way. This was also one of the first songs that I recorded live drums for after I got my kit, so that was a cool experience with this song.
Lyrics
I see right through you
Eyes don't ever tell a lie
In time
Bottom feeder, clinging on to all this hype
Your act is almost up
Devious lies
Caught up in your world, not mine
A life-sized disguise
You speak so highly, trying to come off low-key
I see
I was so wrapped in your perceived meaning
Too naïve
So, which face will I get to see today
I can't wait
These are your years, they'll go down in the history books
Representative Victorian
Can you feel it
Everybody's eyes on you
The spotlight shines true
You wear your mask well, with a starry-eyed show to sell
That glare is just so all inviting
Who wouldn't wanna accept
I am so wrapped in your perceived meaning
Too naïve
So, which face will I get to see today
Who's to say
I'm seeing myself out
It's such a waste of time to try to get you singled out
Cycle repeats itself
Your pride's high tide
I see right through you
Eyes don't ever tell a lie
In time
Devious lies
Living in your world, not mine
Not mine
