Bio
Born & partially raised in Lake Tahoe, CA, while spending formative years in a small Northern Nevada town, Sam King grew up with dreams and aspirations of becoming a musician, spending countless hours lip-syncing, and picking apart his favorite songs on the internet. Diving headfirst into the different worlds of producing, songwriting, and guitar playing a few months after graduating from high school, he yearned to reach the sonic heights of those such as Linkin Park, Arctic Monkeys, The Beatles, and so on.
He quickly realized that might not be in his future, but instead started carving out his own path with singles such as 2021’s "PostUp" & "WHEELIE" (accompanied by 2 music videos that the singer-songwriter directed and edited himself). From here, the artist began creating YouTube content to share his passion of music-making, and even went on some deep-dives showcasing exactly how he recorded his songs.
2022 saw Sam release 2 projects: a 4-track EP entitled “poolside,” and an experimental beat tape entitled “Long Valley Tapes.” Both projects saw Sam really starting to take his craft to the next level, but there was still much more to come.
2023 was a slower (but still productive) year, as instead of releasing any new music, the multi-instrumentalist decided to pick up a new instrument—drums. This would help to inform the direction of SamKing’s 2024 project, “Find the Real Me,” which saw much more live instrumentation than any of his previous work.
SamKing's new EP, “Find the Real Me,” is his newest venture into his musical expression, and finds the artist discovering a newfound confidence in his songwriting and production. His boldest and most polished work to date, “Find the Real Me” truly showcases King’s dedication to the art of creating music. Lead single “In Your Mind” is a soft and vaguely introspective track that finds itself swimming in lush reverb and dreamy vocals, only to then explode into a climactic rock outro with bombastic drums and fuzzed-out guitars. “Cruisin’” is a driving psychedelic pop song with dark undertones and catchy melodies—probably the most pop-friendly song in the singer’s discography thus far. “Eyes” shows a more playful, yet refined, side to SamKing’s songwriting, and depicts more conceptual lyrical themes and includes more progressive instrumentation.
“Find the Real Me” expresses a sense of acceptance about where music stands in SamKing’s life, and he will continue to explore the many different directions that the art may take him, however it manifests itself.

2nd single off of SamKing's 2024 EP, 'Find the Real Me'
"Cruisin'" is a fun, psychedelic, driving pop song, perfect for, well, cruising down the road on a hot Summer day with the top down. Originally inspired by a trip that SamKing took to Las Vegas in 2022, and initially meant to be an ode to the city, "Cruisin'" began to take on a life of its own once the singer/songwriter got closer to a final draft of the song. A handful of re-writes and countless hours of tinkering with the vocal and instrumental production brought Sam to a fun party song that is lyrically applicable to many different occasions.

3rd Single off of SamKing's 2024 Ep, 'Find the Real Me'
"Eyes" began how a lot of SamKing's songs begin: by sitting down and noodling on the guitar. Funnily enough, once he stumbled across the primary chord progression, he got a vision of creating a song that could fit over a 'Breaking Bad' montage, where Walt and Jesse are cooking in their makeshift lab. The chords had a certain edginess to them that invoked more of a raw and unapologetic lyrical approach, so during a trip to San Francisco in late 2023, Sam cooked up a majority of the bitey and passive aggressive words that complement the instrumentation. "Eyes" is accompanied by an eerie DIY music video that he and a friend shot with the night vision function on Sam's camera, adding on to the mischievous nature of the song.
