This is the most spur-of-the-moment song on the track list, as I pretty much made this entire song in a few hours the night before my family and I were getting ready to travel and go see family. The title comes from me, quite literally, needing to pack for the trip (it was initially just a working title, but I guess it stuck). The original recording had scat vocals, so in finishing this song for the album, I basically just wrote lyrics and re-recorded all the singing, as well as added a couple instrumental embellishments. The title of the song helped inspired the lyrical content, as did a trip to San Francisco that my girlfriend and I went on. Also, some of the words just sounded good in the context of the music, so I didn't overthink the lyrics too much.
Lyrics
Trust in me
You gotta trust in me
It's time to step away from this
Worrying about all of the little things, now
You gotta get up outta
Pack it up, we’re going down to the beach, or the bay
I know it’s tight, but we can try to make it our way
West coast dreams for the cliché
I dare say, feeling foggy weather on a sun day
I, I
Should take a sec
Let it rest
I, I
Should take a sec
Let it rest
